The Rev. Ed Gómez is the vicar of the Episcopal Church of St. Paul’s/San Pablo’s, Houston. His life ministries have taken him as far as serving as a missionary in the Amazon basin in Peru and the Lacandon Jungle of Mexico to working in the nonprofit world in various leadership positions, including Executive Director of The Good Samaritan/El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission in Austin. He has also served at Palmer Memorial Church, Houston, St. Peter’s/San Pedro’s Pasadena, St. Barnabe’s/San Bernabé, Houston and St. Francis/San Francisco de Asis in Austin.
He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Administration and Finance from the University of Miami, Florida where he was born and raised. He completed his philosophy studies at the San Juan Vianney and St. Vincent de Paul Seminary. As a Dominican friar with the Order of the Friars Preachers, he obtained his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. He later conducted additional studies in biblical literary deconstruction at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
Ed currently serves as a committee member of the national Episcopal AO86 General Convention Task Force; board member of the national Episcopal Network on Stewardship, Christian Church Homes in Oakland, California, Woodland Christian Tower, and Healthy Living Matters; member of the John D. Epps Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians, Commission on Hispanic Ministry, Society of Biblical Literature and Association of Fundraising Professionals. He also holds certifications as a Certified Public Participator, Multicultural Leadership, and with the Harvard Negotiation and Leadership program.
Ed is fluent in English and Spanish and is married with three children, two dogs, a cat and every once in a while, turtles and snakes…depending on what the kids bring home!
Meet Dr. Frecia Todd!
Dr. Todd received her BA of Arts and Sciences and MA of Non-Profit Management at the University of Houston-Downtown. Dr. Todd also graduated from the University of Houston in 2018 with a doctoral degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in social education. Dr. Todd serves as a Foundation Board of Directors to the East End Chamber of Commerce. She is a lead instructor at Community Family Centers. She teaches courses focused on educational foundations and English as a second language. She has served in the capacity of an administrator in the public sector in the workforce. She is a highly motivated leader and leads several campus initiatives. During her teaching career, she realized the importance of linking educational research to practice. She is primarily interested in reaching to help underrepresented monitories-immigrants and new arrival immigrants to acquire the necessary work and life skills to become self-sufficient in the United States society. She has taught adults while leading the initiative of English at Work. There are many working adults trying to learn English with a busy schedule. While leading the English at Work initiative, Dr. Todd visited several hotels and manufacturers to teach English.
